Throughout the evening, Russian aerial assaults have caused blackouts in large parts of the capital city, Kyiv.

A number of civilians were hurt while residents in eastern districts were left without electricity and dealt with problems to water supplies, according to local authorities.

At the same time, a seven-year-old child was lost their life in a separate Russian drone strike in the southeastern region in the country's south-east, according to local officials.

He said that numerous aerial vehicles and several dozen rockets targeted energy facilities, describing such assaults as "strategic and deliberate" and against "essential services" as the weather cools.

Government representatives said Moscow was "inflicting a massive strike" and maintenance teams were working to fix the damage.

A series of attacks hit energy infrastructure and civilian homes in the capital.

Several of the people wounded in the assaults on the capital have been taken to hospital, per statements from city authorities.

The entire country is on alert for sophisticated projectile assaults, which are more difficult to spot.

Authorities told reporters that Russia was deliberately attempting to damage the national power system, with attacks already impacting gas facilities.

Officials stated energy workers and government agencies were bracing for more assaults.
